THE free Cinema under the Stars will begin at Newcastle's King Edward Park tonight with the ABBA-inspired musical Mamma Mia.

The double bill of computer animation Wall-E and home-grown teen flick Newcastle will be shown on January 17.

Gates open at 6.30pm and the show begins at sunset.
