Bus Fares To Be Reviewed

THE 2008 annual review of bus fares in Newcastle and the Hunter will begin this month.

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal has requested fare proposals from the Transport Ministry, which will be put on the tribunal's website with an explanation of the review process.

The tribunal sets the maximum fares for Sydney and outer-metropolitan buses, including Newcastle and the Hunter.

It will also recommend fare increases for rural and regional buses.
